La Malattia di Danon è una malattia genetica rara. È una malattia sistemica, correlata al cromosoma X ed è caratterizzata da ipertrofia ventricolare sinistra, ritardo mentale e miopatia scheletrica, che spesso colpisce i giovani.
Come sapere se si ha la Malattia di Danon?
L’unico modo è sottoporsi alle analisi genetiche, prelevando un campione di sangue e controllando l’eventuale mutazione del gene Lamp2.

Quali sono i sintomi della Malattia di Danon?
I sintomi variano notevolmente da uomo a donna. Questa malattia generalmente si manifesta in maniera più aggressiva negli uomini.
La malattia di Danon è rara e sconosciuta da molti medici. Spesso viene scambiata con altre forme di malattie cardiache e/o distrofie muscolari, come per esempio la Malattia di Pompe.
Nelle donne è più difficile effettuare la diagnosi di questa malattia, in quanto i sintomi sono meno gravi.
